Organizing Experience Counseling Experience Estate / Sales Experience
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from U.S.F. which is where she learned color theory and design. Wanting to work in a business environment, following college she worked for over 10 years as a Territory Sales Manager, leading a team of over 100 representatives. She also worked for 5 years in the mortgage industry as a Licensed Mortgage Broker and Branch Manager. She learned time management, office organization, paper management, as well as working as a guide and trainer.
Michelle simultaneously attended Nova Southeastern University and graduated with a
Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling, graduating in 1996 and was licensed in 2003 (click here to see what it took to achieve licensure). Michelle worked in private practice, specializing in clients with addictions, relationship issues, abuse and trauma, stress, anxiety and depression, grief, loss and bereavement, hypnotherapy, ADD and ADHD, chronic disorganization and life coaching.
Over the years, clients would attend therapy sessions in her office and talk about being overwhelmed by their environments, not being able to do those tasks that they wanted and having a difficult time figuring out where to begin to help themselves. Michelle had one such client who was constantly talking about how she had piles in her home, couldn't seem to find a place for everything and wasn't able to do anything to help herself. Since she was a long term client with agoraphobia (extreme or irrational fear of crowded spaces), Michelle agreed to visit her in her home.
What Michelle found was an apartment filled with clutter! It was so filled that the client didn't know where to begin. Michelle agreed to work with her over a period of a week and little by little, the clutter was removed and the client's important items were organized. Not only did the space look clear and pretty but more importantly, the client's depression lifted and she found it easier to leave the house. It was such a drastic change that Michelle realized that she had had many clients over the years with similar complaints and knew that she would not be able to help them become organized working from her office. A new idea was born!
Michelle has been an organizer her entire life. As early as she can remember, she has been asked to help others organize their belongings and their environments, from rearranging furniture to creating a better layout and setting up offices and children's rooms. She admits that she received her childhood training from her mother who used to organize every area of her home while making it a game and a lot of fun. To this day, organizing is a fun experience!
Learning that she could make Professional Organizing her avocation, she received additional training in which required knowledge of organizational theory, the ability to take precise needs assessments, the understanding of time efficiency and the knowledge of how to transfer organizing skills to others. During this training she found that she was training her trainers!!
She founded her own company, Organizing in a Snap, in 2010 due to the high demand of her organizing services and began working full time as a Professional Organizer. Michelle has worked with her organizing clients for a total of over 6000 hours per year, helping them to successfully organize absolutely every aspect of their life, home and business.
One additional skill allows Michelle to further assist her clients. While she was building her counseling practice, she bought and sold items to pay for expenses. She became adept at selling items on eBay, at auction and at local sales, all while building a network of buyers and collectors. As a result, Michelle is able to assist her organizing clients by selling items they no longer want or need. Supporting her belief of re-purpose, re-use and recycle, often times she will act as a 'Furniture Matchmaker' selling a piece of furniture or treasure from one client who no longer needs something to another who does.
Some clients may lack the time or knowledge to tackle a specific project like setting up a home office. For others, organization has been a long term struggle. It may be dealing with life's everyday challenges or due to the loss of a loved one, illness, letting go of sentimental items, ADD or ADHD, a shopping addiction or hoarding and Michelle is able to work with clients with any of these issues because of her counseling training. Ask yourself, if you suffer from depression, ADD or are suffering the loss of a loved one, would you want someone guiding you without the proper training?? Even though you will not be receiving counseling in an organizing session, you still have access to the years of training and skills that Michelle has to offer.
Michelle Winarsky, L.M.H.C., Professional Organizer, will work with you to help you you reach the organizing goals that you set for yourself and implement a plan based on your individual needs. She can provide a plan so that you may complete tasks on your own or with her assistance at your side.
